London. May 1st 2007 – TNS, a world leader in market information, has appointed Robert I. Tomei as Global Head of Access Panels, effective immediately. In his new role, Mr. Tomei will set, lead and deliver a strategy for growth and development of 6thdimension™, TNS’ global access panel business, including regional panel functions in North America, Europe and the Asia/Latin America region.  Working with the TNS global senior leadership team, he will build on TNS’ consistent and efficient approach to panel operations around the world and promote and sell the business via a unified marketing programme.

Mr. Tomei is a market research veteran with 25 years experience in the consumer packaged goods industry with particular expertise in developing, managing and marketing consumer panels. He has a long track record in general management, global marketing, developing innovative client solutions and creating strategic partnerships to drive profitable revenue growth, both in the US and internationally.

Mr. Tomei joins TNS after a 13 year career with ACNielsen where he most recently served as President of their Homescan consumer panel business, which operates in 27 countries.  At ACNielsen, he was credited with developing and managing the largest, industry-leading consumer purchase panel in the U.S.  Additionally, he directed significant product and service innovations around consumer and shopper insight applications and supported the launch of the service in several countries around the world. Mr. Tomei successfully created strategic industry partnerships that leveraged ACNielsen’s consumer data with capabilities in traditional and online media to assist clients in executing more effective marketing and advertising programs.

Prior to ACNielsen, Mr. Tomei held a number of marketing services positions at Bristol-Myers and Philip Morris USA.   He is a recognised expert in the consumer packaged goods industry and has established strong relationships with many of TNS’ key consumer goods clients. He has served as a Board member for the Advertising Research Foundation in the US and for a small, privately-held company (Marketing Technology Solutions) that operates in the CRM business segment.

Mr Tomei will report to Pedro Ros, Managing Director – Global Clients and Sectors, and will be located in the North American headquarters office in New York.
