The fifth annual Sh! Student Design Awards takes place at Brahm on 14th June. The event, one of the most prominent on the Yorkshire design calendar, is held in memory of Stuart Hocknell, a talented designer at Brahm who tragically lost his life to meningitis in October 2002, aged just 28. Stuart was a great supporter of young designers, so an annual student award scheme is the perfect way to remember and pay tribute to him.
The awards are open to all graphic design and new media students due to graduate this year from a Yorkshire college or university. Judges include creative directors from some of the region’s top agencies, making this an outstanding opportunity for the brightest new talent to get seen by key people in the industry. And there are some great prizes, including cash and work placements with Brahm. Previous winners have gone on to secure full time jobs at Brahm and other leading agencies.
Sh! is a unique talent showcase that brings together the cream of the Yorkshire design scene. The awards evening takes place at the Brahm Gallery and includes an exhibition of finalists’ work as well as music, entertainment, refreshment and plenty of opportunity to give money to a good cause. In past years thousands of pounds have been raised for The Meningitis Research Foundation – the nominated charity of The Sh! Awards.
The event is organised by Brahm with the generous support of sponsors. For information about getting involved with The 2007 Sh! Student Design Awards, please click here or email Lisa Doel at
