21ST January 2008

For the first time, global agency TNS is offering its researchers across the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa region the opportunity to study for the MRS Advanced Certificate in Market & Social Research Practice, through a link up with MRS.

The partnership will see the MRS qualification taught as part of TNS Knowledge Box – a week-long intensive training course to be held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 25 February-1 March 2008.

The MRS Advanced Certificate is a degree-level vocational qualification designed for newcomers to the market and social research profession.  The qualification provides a practical grounding in the principles and techniques which underpin effective research.   The initiative with TNS was developed as part of TNS’ participation in the MRS Professional Development Scheme, which accredits suppliers of all sizes to deliver its qualifications.  The TNS initiative is the largest global roll-out of its kind.

TNS Knowledge Box will be the first time that the MRS Advanced Certificate has been taught as part of the TNS professional development programme in the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa region.  150 delegates are expected to attend this centralised program from as far afield as China, Japan, New Zealand , Australia, Egypt, and Dubai.

Sam Driscoll, Qualifications Manager at MRS, says: “This is a very exciting development for both MRS and the global research sector.  The MRS Advanced Certificate is seen as the key qualification for graduate research practitioners -  and taking our Advanced Certificate to TNS  researchers in Asia Pacific will benchmark standards across the region.”

Michelle Griffin, ALM Regional People & Culture Director, TNS, adds: “The Knowledge Box has been designed to appeal to our graduate trainees who want an additional formal qualification in their profession.  Given the inclusion of applied case studies, participants will learn not only the theory involved in the research process but importantly how to apply the principles in today’s market.  TNS is working to set a standard across all the markets it operates in – and our partnership with the MRS Advanced Certificate will enable us to deliver this across an emerging market which is presenting the industry with huge opportunities for growth.  We are fortunate to have market research gurus such as John Smurthwaite actively involved as the Key Sponsor of this programme, working with our trainers to deliver an impressive, high quality event.”

MRS offers all suppliers whether large or small the opportunity to deliver the Advanced Certificate in-house.  If you are interested in exploring opportunities to provide MRS qualifications within your organisation, please contact the MRS Qualifications Manager on This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
