Statement From GfK NOP Regarding ‘Bogus Use Of NOP Name For Marketing Calls’ PDF Print E-mail
Written by GFK NOP
21 Jul 2009
The management of GfK NOP is aware of recent telephone calls made to the general public purporting to come from GfK NOP or a variation on this name such as "GfK", "NOP”, "NOP Research”, "National Opinion Polls", "NOP Ludgate”.

The caller claims to have generated the telephone numbers via Random Digit Dialling and then attempt one or more of the following:

- ask whether they can send the respondent a brochure
- ask to forward the respondent to another department, to gather their contact / payment details
- try to sell personal insurance or other similar products

There is no recognisable Call Line Identification provided with these calls nor is there a number given when the respondent calls 1471.

GfK NOP advises that they never attempt to sell anything to the general public, neither on their own behalf, nor on behalf of their clients. Nor does GfK NOP ever request payment details from respondents.

All survey calls made from GfK NOP send out a clear Call Line Identification (CLI), all of which are listed here
