Former Synovate Healthcare CEO, Michael Spedding, and former Synovate CFO, Peter Chopra, have announced the launch of a new healthcare marketing services venture: PharmaGems.  

Based primarily in London but with global reach, PharmaGems will invest in and partner with entrepreneurial individuals and independent businesses – the ‘gems’ to which its name refers – and work with them to drive growth in profits and capital value.

A unique and highly relevant addition to the healthcare marketing services industry, PharmaGems addresses the growing importance of – and opportunity for – innovation and entrepreneurialism in this changing marketplace.

“Specifically, PharmaGems’ services are geared towards three entrepreneurial groups: individuals or teams needing resources, contacts and expertise for a successful launch; independent businesses seeking to enter new markets, develop new products and break through ‘glass ceilings’; and mature businesses looking to engineer their business for sale and optimise exit value”,  commented Peter Chopra, PharmaGems’ co-founder.

Chopra is a ‘Big 4’ trained Chartered Accountant, qualified barrister, owner of transaction services business, Great Outcomes, and Partner in Verve, the specialist in customer advisory panels & online brand communities.  

Chopra’s prior roles include CFO of Synovate, CEO of Synovate UK and Deputy CFO of Aegis Group plc.  With 17 years’ experience in market research and marketing services, Chopra has successfully completed over 50 transactions in this industry.

Spedding was most recently Synovate’s CEO of Geographies.  Prior to this, he was CEO of Synovate Healthcare for 5 years – during which period, Synovate Healthcare doubled turnover through organic growth and increased profits almost three-fold.  

A chartered accountant by profession, Spedding’s track record also includes positions of CEO, COO and CFO within major corporations including Virgin, UBM & NOP.
