GfK, a leading provider of global market information and insight, today announced the appointment of Joe Staton as Global Consumer Trends Director for its Roper Consulting business.

In his new role, Joe will build upon GfK Roper Consulting’s expertise in the consumer trends environment and lead further innovation around its TrendKey global consumer trends platform.

Joe joins from The Future Foundation, where he was Planning Director.

Whilst at the Future Foundation, Joe worked on the launch of Mosaic UK 2009, co-authored “Social Media Futures” for the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA) and was a regular media commentator on the impact of the recession on consumers, brands and marketing.

Joe has 20 years experience of working both locally and internationally with clients across multiple industries from CPG, automotive and financial services to IT, media and telecoms.

Commenting on Joe’s appointment, Phyllis Macfarlane, Chairman of GfK NOP UK, said,

“Joe has spent two decades helping his clients face the future.  With the wealth of GfK Roper global trends data at his disposal, we expect Joe to provide our clients with unmatched strategic counsel and foresight.  He will bring fresh thinking and an alternative view to our stable of trends platforms, including our global cornerstone, TrendKey, our proprietary and bespoke consumer trends programme.”

Joe added,

“GfK excels at understanding global consumers and this offering is at the heart of my new role. In a world where consumers move faster than markets and marketing, it is great to be able to offer insight into their desires and needs, and to help our clients be better prepared for what’s next. I am excited to be working with truly global, robust research, which delivers the fresh thinking on which our clients depend.”

Joe is based in GfK’s London headquarters in Blackfriars and will be working across the GfK global network.
