BuzzCity urges advertisers to tap local unwired market

Increased opportunities with boom of mobile internet advertising

158 million advertising banners delivered during 2010's second quarter

Male working adults dominate the unwired market

According to BuzzCity's ongoing user research, extensive growth of the Malaysian unwired market currently exhibits promising potential and should be one marketers tap into with mobile internet advertising significantly on the rise.

In its most recent study, the mobile media company found that during the second quarter of 2010, over 158 million advertising banners were disseminated across mobile websites visited by local surfers who accessed the net using their mobile devices (unwired users - those who surf the web via their mobile phones or devices).

"Southeast Asia is one of the fastest growing regions for mobile internet usage and the quarterly growth rates for Malaysia have been increasing consecutively, indicating that this is the space where advertisers have to be in if they want to connect with their customers", said KF Lai, CEO, BuzzCity.

Based on data compiled, it also discovered that the local unwired community consists predominantly of male working adults between the ages of 20 and 40, representing 75% of the mobile surfers with Malaysian female users not too far behind.
In response to the fast rising number of working adults who are becoming more reliant on their mobile devices for content, BuzzCity has launched a new free service called Now Cook - a site offering a collection of international recipes from partners worldwide for easy-and-quick-to-prepare dishes.

"There are few independent international food content channels providing distribution to the mobile platform. Now Cook creates an excellent platform for consumer and FMCG brands to promote their recipes to mobile users at no cost to them," Lai said.

Incidentally, the service is aimed at offering mobile users a unique mobile browsing experience by making available a selection of recipes from leading international media brands such as Nestle, India Today, and South Africa's Weigh Less.

BuzzCity will soon launch its Now Cook Catalogue - a platform granting media owners, brands and FMCG firms further opportunities to create brand awareness by creating their own branded recipe portal tailored for their audience, through syndicating content already available on the Now Cook site.
