In line with its strategic vision for its global media research business, GfK has appointed Nick North as Chief Marketing Officer of GfK Media Sector, starting October 2010.

Wilhelm Wessels, GfK Management Board member responsible for Media, comments:

“Nick’s appointment as CMO is in line with our vision for our global brand in the Media Sector, as we develop our international media research business. The CMO will strengthen the competitiveness of our local GfK companies and improve our success rate in winning major contracts in existing markets. He will also contribute to our goal to develop new growth in new markets, extending the scope of the Media sector beyond its current contracts and countries.”

North brings nearly 20 years’ media research experience to the role, working with a number of the largest media owners, in the UK and internationally.

He comments:
“With a strong portfolio of research services and audience measurement tools, GfK is in an excellent position to roll out proven techniques for syndicated and bespoke studies on behalf of our clients across all our Media markets. This new role gives us the opportunity to deliver to our clients a wider array of tools to provide them with greater understanding of their audience, within a more integrated approach on a local and multinational level.”

In the capacity as CMO, North joins the GfK Media Board, and will act as Secretary.

He will also continue in his role as joint head of GfK NOP Media in the UK, a position he has held for the past 7 years, with a share of his time continuing to be devoted to the management and development of GfK’s growing UK and Irish media research business.
