UPDATE ON TNS CHAIRMAN SELECTION PROCESS
Mike Kirkham announces decision to withdraw candidature
5th January 2006 - London, UK - In October 2005 the Board of Taylor Nelson Sofres plc (TNS) announced that it was going through a selection process for a chairman to replace Tony Cowling.? This followed consultation with a number of institutional shareholders and at that time the Board invited Mike Kirkham to become a candidate.
Mike Kirkham has since decided to withdraw his candidature.?? Commenting on his decision, Mike Kirkham said, "UK Corporate Governance guidelines recommend that only in exceptional circumstances should the Chief Executive of a company go on to become chairman.? After further consideration, I now believe it is appropriate for me to stand down from the process and withdraw my candidature.? I will fully support the new chairman and the new Chief Executive, David Lowden, and will work with them for the future success of TNS."
The TNS Board expects to be in a position to announce the appointment of the new chairman within the next few weeks.
