Written by DJS Research Ltd
15 Nov 2012
DJS Research Ltd, a leading market research agency based in Cheshire, is continuing to offer paid and unpaid internships and opportunities for work experience. Jake Burton, the most recent beneficiary of the internship program, will be working with DJS Research for a month in the marketing and PR department.

Quick Profile

Favourite Sports Teams: Stockport County, Baltimore Ravens, Denver Nuggets

Favourite Band: Enter Shikari

Nickname: Burt

Interesting Fact: If I could live anywhere in the world, I would choose Las Vegas.

When asked about what he’d like to achieve whilst at DJS Jake identified a desire to experience the customer facing element of the marketing process, and also to see how the work that market research agencies do feeds in to wider strategic decisions:

“I’m looking forward to the chance to get involved in some copy-writing, and to gain some experience of utilising social media in a business environment. I’m part of the generation that has grown up in the social media age, so it will be interesting to see how it is used commercially. Working in the marketing department of a market research agency is also a great chance to see the link between how the research we conduct is transformed from raw data and results into an effective marketing strategy.”

Jake’s appointment comes at the same time as DJS Research once again opens its doors for graduate applications, forms for which can found online here. The company also employs two apprentices, and has offered work experience placements on a continuous basis for the past two years, many of which lead to full-time employment at DJS Research or elsewhere.

Danny Sims, Managing Director at the research agency, is a strong proponent of providing opportunities to early-career individuals:

It’s vital to give young people the opportunities to spend time in the workplace – too often companies and organisations ask for experience and knowledge without offering a system for individuals to gain this. As a company, we also gain from having relatively young people in the office, who often see issues from a different perspective, or think about things in a different way, which is obviously really useful for us as an organisation.”

DJS Research Ltd is a leading market research agency specialising in consumer and B2B market research for public, private and third sector clients across a wide array of industry sectors.
