Academy Cics-Off With Second Cohort PDF Print E-mail
Written by Agent Academy CIC
20 Jan 2015

As its first programme comes to a close, Agent Academy CIC celebrates the successes of its pilot project and seeks to recruit young people for its second cohort.

2015 sees the fully-funded programme recruiting 16-25 year olds from across the city region to join its innovative programme that commences in the first week of March.

In August 2014, Agent Academy CIC was launched by Agent Marketing – a full-service marketing agency with offices in Liverpool and London – and ten young people began their journey within its Baltic Triangle headquarters.

Over 12 weeks, these ten specially-selected students explored the marketing industry and gained hands-on experience through an action-based learning programme. The programme saw Agent Academy CIC’s students engaging with key-business leaders and marketing experts from across the city region from organisations such as; Liverpool City Council, Liverpool Echo and the Everyman & Playhouse.

As part of the programme, Agent Academy CIC’s young people were appointed by Liverpool Life Sciences UTC to develop a communications plan for the school. The science and healthcare specialist will be using this plan to develop their current approach to student recruitment helping to engage with young people from across Liverpool.

Director of Agent Academy CIC, Paul Corcoran, said:

“Agent Academy CIC’s success is testament to the hard-work invested in the course by its students and programme leaders. The programme was originally designed as a 10-week course but soon developed into a 12-week syallbus based on our students’ productivity, willingness to learn and the businesses wanting to involve their corporations with this programme.

“One of the Academy’s students has already been recruited by a respected employer and has commenced a full-time career as a consequence of their engagement with Agent Academy CIC.

“The programme isn’t an internship, or even an apprenticeship, but a supportive learning hub providing pratical engagement and hands-on discovery, rather than simply offering theory based development.

“The Academy is now the process of recruiting its next intake and we’re encouraging young people to apply to the March programme and unlock their potential.”

Agent Academy CIC is the first of its kind in Liverpool and, indeed, the country. The programme, which will run up to four times per year, is a social enterprise, therefore the programmes are fully funded with investment coming from Agent Marketing’s profits.

Agent Academy CIC will be celebrating the achievements of its first cohort with a graduation ceremony taking place on Thursday, 22 January at Agent Marketing HQ.

In attendance at the graduatation will be key-speakers from the programme and potential employers for the graduands to interact and share their experiences from the course with.
