Mapp Media Signs Ultimate Rugby in World Cup Year PDF Print E-mail

Mapp Media has announced today that it has signed an agreement with Ultimate Rugby, the world’s number one rugby app and website. Under the deal, Mapp Media will represent Ultimate Rugby exclusively in the UK, enabling brands to benefit from running innovative advertising campaigns targeted at the platform’s audience of 1.5million users.

The agreement means that Mapp Media will represent Ultimate Rugby throughout the Rugby World Cup 2015 in the UK, as well as its build up over the next four months. Starting on 18th September, the World Cup will see 20 teams play 48 matches in 40 days, with 2.3 million tickets available and 500,000 overseas fans expected to visit England and Wales.

Ultimate Rugby provides the content that its users need on the devices they use. This means that through its website and apps for iOS and Android, Ultimate Rugby provides the latest news, real-time live scores, videos, competitions, social media and player interaction. It covers all tier-one rugby in both the Northern and Southern hemispheres, including the RBS 6 Nations, the Rugby Championship, Heineken Cup, Super 15, RaboDirect Pro12 and Aviva Premiership.

said Brian O’Driscoll, founder at Ultimate Rugby.
 
“With the Rugby World Cup not much more than 100 days away, interest from the public is growing fast,” said Nathan Warner, Director at Mapp Media. “We are looking forward to delivering some innovative, effective campaigns for advertisers that appeal to Ultimate Rugby’s highly-engaged user group.”

Ultimate Rugby was co-founded by Brian O’Driscoll and Ray Nolan. O’Driscoll is widely regarded as one of the best centres ever to play the game and is the most capped player in rugby union history. During his career he captained both Ireland and the British and Irish Lions and holds the record for most international tries for Ireland.

Mapp Media has one of the largest sports and fitness portfolios in Europe, having also recently signed a deal to work with Under Armour’s Connected Fitness platforms. It has delivered a number of innovative campaigns for the sports and fitness market including Unilever, Lucozade and TomTom, to name just a few.

Mapp Media has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry across all major agencies, and won the Best Mobile Advertising Campaign of 2014 at the Mobile Entertainment Awards, as well as recently being nominated for four awards at the forthcoming MOMAs.
