MRS unveils line up of six new business awards

MRS has unveiled six new awards, which are to join the line-up for the prestigious Research Excellence & Effectiveness Awards 2006 – aimed at promoting the broader business benefits of research.

Including two nominated awards for Research Champion of the Year and Best Newcomer, the new accolades recognise the business successes of agencies and individuals, whilst also awarding achievements in the fields of market research advocacy, client-agency partnerships and HR.

Successful entrants will stand alongside winners of the MRS’ renowned Research Excellence & Effectiveness Awards and the winners of the MRS Research 2006: Connections Conference Awards at a high-profile Awards ceremony in November.

Sponsored by Research magazine, the entries and nominations will be judged by a distinguished panel of experts from within and beyond the research industry, agency-and client-side.  The Call for Entries for all six new awards is open from 12 May until 30 June.

Marc Brenner, Chair of the Awards judging panel and editor of Research, comments: “We have set out this year to develop six new awards which recognise both the bottom-line benefits of good research and the value in elements of the research mix which may have gone unrecognised in the past.  The MRS Research Excellence & Effectiveness Awards seeks to celebrate innovation and best practice across the research profession – which is as much about rewarding your staff, working well with your clients and being an industry advocate as it is about developing leading-edge research tools and delivering academic papers.  By adding these new elements, we feel they provide an even stronger opportunity for researchers to showcase the very best in research practice.”

MRS and Research are inviting entries for the following new awards:

Best Agency - Open to any market research agency and recognising the agency's achievements in the twelve months running up to June 2006, this is Research magazine’s top prize of the night.
Best New Agency - Acknowledging the entrepreneurial spirit, achievement and ambition of smaller agencies, this is open to any agency which has been trading for up to 36 months.
Best Research Campaign - A joint recognition for clients and their agencies who have developed and delivered a truly outstanding campaign over the twelve months up to June 2006.
Innovative Employer of the Year – Awarded to a research employer that can demonstrate innovative thinking and new initiatives that make their business a great place to work.
Research Champion of the Year – A special award given to an individual (agency, client side or beyond the market research industry) who has made an outstanding contribution to enhancing the reputation of the market research industry in the last 12 months.
Research Newcomer of the Year - Open to researchers in agencies or client side who have been in the industry for less that 36 months on 30 June 2006.

The winners will be announced during a ceremony at the Research Excellence & Effectiveness Awards Dinner, which will take place on 6 November 2006 at London’s Royal Lancaster Hotel.

The deadline for MRS Research Award entries, which must be submitted as emailed word documents,  is 5.00pm on 30 June 2006.  Further information and an entry form is available at
