Chinese Digital Mobile Radio Standards Are Getting Ready - 03 August 2006
Shanghai, China (21 July 2006) – It is forecast that in 2010, about 32% of digital mobile radio terminals shipped in China are for Gota and GT800, the two Chinese digital mobile radio standards, according to a new report by IMS Research (http://www.imsresearch.com/). In 2005, the shipments for Gota and GT800 were estimated very small due to the fact that only small trial networks had been established. However, the aggregate market revenues for the two Chinese standards are forecast to grow fast, reaching over $19 million, or about 18% of total digital mobile radio terminal revenues in China, by 2010.
The fast growth is primarily attributed to the strong growth of digital PAMR (Public Access Mobile Radio) networks. Chinese standards are maturing both in terms of technology and sales channel development. The average unit prices for Gota and GT800 TRXs are significantly lower than the TRX average unit prices for Tetra and iDEN. This makes the two Chinese digital standards very attractive to digital PAMR operators.
Senior analyst, Richard Jun Li commented: “Fast growth for Chinese digital mobile radio standards is forecast in the next five years. The Chinese digital mobile radio technology standards have been developed and are starting to deploy and will be driven by the fast growing digital PAMR networks in China.”
