Wellingborough, UK (16 May) – At a critical time when UWB-enabled products are ready to hit the market, IMS Research has produced a new research report entitled, “The Worldwide Market for UWB”.
The report comes at a critical time for the UWB industry, as decisions vital to the success of the technology continue to be made on a frequent basis. Report analyst Fiona Thomson commented, “The report reveals that the UWB end-equipment market is projected to grow rapidly to over 600 million units in 2011”. She added “Overall the report highlights that UWB is well-suited to a wide variety of use-cases and markets”.

Early in the forecast period it is the peripheral aftermarket (add-in-cards and dongles) that is an important one for UWB. However, from 2009, its importance is forecast to decrease as the market for embedded UWB products such as notebooks and desktops takes off.

The report shows that the market for UWB-enabled cellular terminals and home entertainment products is forecast to develop rapidly before 2011, accounting for over 50% of the total projected UWB-market in 2011.
