Annual survey of 60,000 rail travellers sets targets and benchmarks
BDRC Continental, the UK’s largest independent market research agency, is delighted to announce that it has retained the contract for the National Passenger Survey (NPS). This important survey measures customer satisfaction across the entire rail industry in Great Britain from an annual sample of approximately 60,000 passengers.
The results are used by Passenger Focus, the independent body set up by the Government to protect the interests of passengers, to monitor individual train company performance and set benchmarks and targets for upcoming rail franchises.
BDRC Continental has managed the National Passenger Survey since spring 2003, maintaining the contract in a tender in 2007. This win sees the contract retained from autumn this year until spring 2014, with a possible extension for a further 12 months.
Managed by BDRC Continental Director Dave Chilvers, fieldwork for the contract is carried out by the Group’s operations business, Perspective Research Services.
“I am extremely pleased that we have retained the National Passenger Survey once again,” says Cris Tarrant, CEO, BDRC Continental. “The survey is an extensive piece of research that involves the entire team at the BDRC Group, from our operations business Perspective Research Services, to our experienced transport consultants who have been working on this survey for eight years.”
