Housing market prospects weaker in next few months The improvement in the housing market in the autumn, predicted by strong consumer intentions in June and September, is set to cool in the coming months, although not to the extent seen in winter 2005. Both housing market measures of expected mortgage demand and intentions of putting a deposit down on a property to buy weakened in December, with some of this weakness probably the result of the reversal by HM Treasury of the decision to allow residential property to be included in a Sipp from this April.
