The leading electronics research firm IMS Research today announced Honeywell as the market leader in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) market for fire detection products. In its recent report entitled "The EMEA Market for Fire Detection and Suppression Products-2006", Honeywell has emerged as the dominant supplier with an estimated market share of 18.9%, ahead of its nearest competitor Siemens (13.2%).

Honeywell's success has been achieved by its acquisition of some of the industry's powerhouse brands that are dominating in almost all the fire detection product markets. IMS Research analyst James McManus commented "The combined strength of Notifier, Esser, Slient Knight, Fire-Lite, Gent, Morley IAS, System Sensor and KAC subsidiaries has made Honeywell a ubiquitous force within the fire detection market".

IMS Research predicts the EMEA market for fire detection products will reach E959.3 million in 2010, with a forecast compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.8%. Improving economic and construction outlooks will see the market grow at a consistent rate up to 2010. Stricter legislation and certification has brought about a trend towards higher quality products. Greater awareness and promotion of newer product technologies and the trend towards more intelligent analogue addressable systems has been fuelling increases in market revenue.
