The Implications of Qualitative Research, as explained by DJS Research Ltd.
The findings of qualitative research cannot be attributed to the population as a whole, mainly because the techniques that are used at the recruitment stage and in the exploration of the issues raised in qual. research are usually different, by design, from those that are incorporated in quantitative studies. That is not to say that qualitative research and quantitative research can’t work side by side. Qualitative research can be used as a planning tool to devise a quantitative study and it can also be use to gain a greater understanding of quantitative results post-study because, of course, qualitative research allows for respondents to be probed on certain issues in a way that isn’t possible in a quantitative study.
