Help with sample size and confidence levels 13 Years, 10 Months ago
I am doing a survey to measure satisfaction results from 10 different Halls of Residence.
Each halls of residence has a different amount of residents, so I am working out what is the minimum amount of responses I need for each Halls, using a sample size calculator.

So for example one Halls has 500 residents - I am putting in 500 as the population, and 5% as the confidence interval (which seems standard?), to calculate the minimum sample size.

I picked 5% as it seems quite popular when I have googled confidence levels...is that right? or should I be changing it depending on the population for each halls?
I cannot find any tools to calculate confidence intervals without already knowing the sample size, but that is what i am trying to establish in the first place.

Thanks!
