Hi my name is Sandra,
I am very interested in knowing how marketers search for data. I am doing a research and it would be really useful if you could answer these couple of questions. What tools do you use to find statistics and percentages on specific industries? I imagine that the internet is a great tool, but how do you use it (internet) to help you find information?
Thank you for taking the time to answer my question
Cheers,
Sandra

The Internet is accepting a affecting appulse on the way firms aggregate and assay abstracts about their barter and competitors. The two accepted categories of bazaar analysis information.
1. Information that a close collects itself for the purpose of analytic a accurate botheration or investigating a specific issue. This advice ability is aggregate by survey, ascertainment or controlled experiment.
2. Information that has been calm or appear by added humans or organizations. For example, advice begin at the library is accessory abstracts -- as is advice begin in cyber banking databases and added sources that can be accessed via the Internet.

You can easily exaggerate the iportance of the Internet as such a tool. It depends on someone already having done the hard work, and after that having given it away. Which some industry publications and associations do. Also some govertnment agencies.
But the most important information may be proprietary. Industries often support syndicated surveys, in which a research company gathers the data from subscribers and publishes it for evertyone's benefit, thereby avoiding the antitrust law violations which might result from larger companies swapping information directly.

Factors that effect your searching:
Choosing keywords
Choosing search strategies
Choosing an information source
* Choosing keywords:
Relevant keywords form the basis for effective searching. Keywords will:
- often be identified when you are exploring your assessment task.
- find far more relevant results than a search using whole or part sentences.
* Choosing search strategies:
There are a number of widely used search strategies which can help you find more relevant information, and reduce the number of inappropriate results. These search strategies may:
- be applied to your keywords
- include the options available in the source you are searching
* Choosing an information source:
Search in a source that focuses on the type of information you need. Whilst some information may be found in more than one place (e.g. legislation may be found on government websites, and in legal databases), there is usually a 'best option' for the type of information you need.

internet I agree with. there are a lot of free information nowadays that if your deduction is quite in a game phase mode then you can research and assume a lot depending on the information you are searching for.
Social is another as it presents real people and real ideas. Its the new one on one approach by the hall.
Manual research always has its benefits but would be more appropriate to local researches (limited)
